It is a great pleasure to welcome the visitors of the Official Website of the Egyptian Chairmanship of the Fifteenth Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, which will be held in the City of Sharm El Sheikh during the period from the 11th till the 16th of July 2009.

    This website contains necessary information concerning the Non-Aligned Movement, the forthcoming Summit in Egypt, the circumstances under which the Movement was established, and its evolution, the effective role it played during the Cold War in upholding the rights of the countries of the South to pursue economic and social development, as well as the Movement's latest news and activities in the International Organizations, in addition to useful information and facilities for the Summit's participants and those interested in following its proceedings.

    We chose the Summit's Theme to be "International Solidarity for Peace and Development" stemming from our conviction that the Summit should attain realistic solutions and initiatives to address the changes that have occurred on the international arena since the Movement's establishment, and are appropriate for confronting international challenges and crises, and minimizing their repercussions on the peoples of the Movement's member countries, as well as availing it with an opportunity to participate effectively in disputes settlement and maintaining international peace and security.

    We trust that through cooperation among the Movement's members, it will be able to consolidate its international weight and contribute to building a new democratic and just world order.
